MiBAP Assoc Established – Press Release

Michigan Behavior Analysis Providers (MiBAP) Association Established

LANSING, MI, April 29, 2019

The Michigan Behavior Analysis Providers (MiBAP) Association announced today that it had formally filed paperwork to establish itself as a Michigan-based 501(c)(6) non-profit association, with the mission to promote access to the science of applied behavior analysis (ABA) through advocacy, education, and quality practices. MiBAP intends to achieve this mission by actively promoting access to ABA services, advocating for the use of ABA services in the treatment of autism, traumatic brain injury, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities, educating others on the benefits of ABA, and promoting quality practices in ABA service delivery. MiBAP plans to serve more than one hundred ABA providers throughout Michigan, and to make a positive difference in the lives of thousands of individuals across the state who currently benefit from ABA treatment.

MiBAP members have elected Michael Dow, President of Autism Centers of Michigan, as the first MiBAP President. Also elected as officers were Treasurer Scott Schrum, CEO of Residential Opportunities Inc., and Secretary Joshua Diehl, Chief Program Officer of LOGAN Community Resources. Additional MiBAP Board members are Jeff Brown, Executive Director of Quality Assurance (Centria), Dr. Rebecca Eldridge, BCBA-D, Clinical Director (Western Michigan University Kalamazoo Autism Center) Michael Kouracos, CEO (Gateway Pediatrics), Dr. Candice Lake, BCBA-D, Director (Wedgwood Christian Services), Margaret Moore, BCBA, Clinical Director (HOPE Network), and Jenipher Swanson, BCBA, Executive Director (ABA Pathways).

“It’s exciting to build an organization that can be one hundred percent focused on the delivery of quality ABA services in the state of Michigan,” said Michael Dow, MiBAP President. “We look forward to engaging with the many other public and private entities engaged in our cause, including Michigan legislators, public and private insurance payors, other non-profit associations, and of course thousands of Michigan families.”
