When did your organization join MiBAP?:
2025

How has membership with MiBAP benefited your organization? Resources, networking, events, etc.?:
As a faculty member in the M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis program at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, joining MiBAP has allowed us to stay informed about current clinical practices, policy issues, and challenges faced by clinicians in Michigan.

How has membership with MiBAP benefited you personally?:
Being in academia, it can be easy to be out of touch with the reality of challenges that clinicians face. Being a member of MiBAP helps me stay connected to real-world issues affecting ABA service providers in Michigan, and therefore better helps me to prepare students to transition to their careers as BCBAs after graduating from our program.

Are you a MiBAP Board member and/or committee member? If so, what is your position?:
I currently serve as co-chair on MiBAP’s Education Committee and have a passion for learning and sharing knowledge about ABA. With the Education Committee team, we plan educational webinars and develop resources for clinicians, families, and stakeholders. I also participate in the Access & Advocacy committee where I enjoy staying informed about issues affecting ABA service delivery in Michigan and advocating for positive change. Most of all, I am grateful to be able to connect with others who share passion for advancing the field and ABA practice across the state.

What do you find most rewarding about the work you do?:
Part of my role as a clinical faculty member involves teaching students to connect ABA concepts and principles to application in meaningful contexts. Seeing those connections being made in real-time is extremely rewarding. I am grateful to be able to support our students’ growth as future ABA professionals. Further, I am confident these experiences will help strengthen service delivery for individuals and families throughout Michigan.

How long have you worked in the field?:
8 years. I started working in the field in 2018. Since then, I have worked as a behavior technician, BCaBA, BCBA, and now as a professor. I love every aspect, from service delivery to teaching and mentoring future BCBAs.

How has membership with MiBAP benefited your organization? Resources, networking, events, etc.?
Membership in MiBAP has benefitted our organization in many ways. The connections we’ve made with other providers have been invaluable, not to mention the face time we’ve had with MDHHS, the governor, legislators, and other key stakeholders who impact service delivery in ABA.

How has membership with MiBAP benefited you personally?
I’ve met many like-minded professionals in similar roles and now have a network of colleagues to whom I can reach out whenever a tricky situation arises. I’ve also helped craft legislation and lobbied to have bills passed that benefit consumers of the services we provide. MiBAP keeps me up-to-date on everything happening in the state that affects ABA service provision and provides guidance on how to respond to make the biggest impact.

Are you a MiBAP Board member and/or committee member? If so, what is your position?
Yes! I’ve been a member of the Board of Directors since MiBAP’s inception in 2019 and served as President of MiBAP for two years.

What do you find most rewarding about the work you do?
It’s hard to identify just one rewarding aspect of the work I do. I love to see the progress the children make in therapy, as well as the looks of delight and pride on their parents’ faces when they exhibit skills that they were unsure they would ever have. I also love to hear how staff are affected by having a warm, positive work environment characterized by empathy and teamwork.
