Access and Advocacy Committee Updates
Currently, we are continuing to discuss the interpretation of the $66 per hour for 97153, and our continued efforts to have this rate in our contracts for the 24/25 contract year. Additionally, we are reviewing the barriers to services during school hours for those clients who are above the age of 6. We are also beginning to review trends in denials from private insurance companies, and the need for continued advocacy for increased reimbursement rates with private insurance.
There are many areas to tackle in the areas of advocacy and access. Tentatively, our next meeting will be Tuesday October 22nd, at 11am. Please email Kristin Wier at kristinw@logancenter.org for access to the zoom link.
Education Committee Update
The Education Committee has been busy planning webinars for 2025! The last webinar of this year is scheduled for December 4, 2025. You can learn more and register below. If you are interested in joining this committee or have webinar topic ideas, please email membership@mibap.org.
Quality Committee Update
The Quality Committee has been busy preparing for its panel discussion at the Michigan Autism Conference. This discussion, titled “Where to Start with Developing a Quality Assurance Program for ABA Providers: Learning What You Don’t Know” features three members of the MiBAP Quality Committee. These include Paul Doher, MA, BCBA, LBA (Director of Clinical Quality, Acorn Health), Jessica Gruber, PhD, BCBA (Chief Clinical Officer, The Place for Autism), Jennifer Hartman, MA, BCBA, LBA (Chief Quality Officer, North Arrow ABA) and Jon Timm, MA, BCBA, LBA (Founder and Clinical Executive, North Arrow ABA). The intent would be to introduce and define the concept of quality in the delivery of ABA services, how organizations can embark on setting standards specific to their practices, and lessons learned from our individual orgs experiences launching and maintaining quality programs. The content would include some of the resources compiled by the MiBAP Quality Committee over the past 4 years and implementation of the Autism Service Delivery Quality (ASDQ) Framework introduced by Silbaugh and El Fattal (2021). This event will be occurring on Friday, October 11 from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM in Prairies 6 of the Radisson Plaza Hotel and Suites.
