Please join us for MiBAP’s next educational webinar for providers, focused on removing barriers to providing ABA therapy in schools! Our April webinar is sponsored by MiBAP’s Access Committee and will feature Lorri Unumb, Esq. and Dan Unumb, Esq. who have worked tirelessly through the years to expand access to services for children with autism and to ensure that insurance legislation is appropriately enforced. Lorri currently serves as CEO for The Council of Autism Service Providers (CASP), an international nonprofit membership organization that cultivates, shares, and advocates for best practices in autism services. Dan currently serves as the founder and President of the Autism Legal Resource Center, which develops and protects the legal rights of people with autism and providers who serve them. Lorri and Dan will join us for a discussion of case law which has impacted access to ABA in the schools, and assist with brainstorming ways providers may tackle the specific barriers they have faced. Attendees will gain an understanding of:

• The legal role and sources of general standards of care in overcoming limitations based on location of services and developing case law;
• The application of state and federal statutes to prevent location restrictions from impeding the delivery of medically necessary care and the regulators responsible for enforcement of these statutes;
• The obligations of school districts to make reasonable accommodations to allow students access to medically necessary ABA in school settings;
• How to efficiently and economically retain and work with attorneys to resolve these issues and to obtain improved clinical results and more secure revenue streams.
