Member Spotlight: Wedgwood Christian Services

This month, MiBAP is pleased to highlight Wedgwood Christian Services, one of our founding organizations and a valued member since the spring of 2019. Wedgwood has played an important role in shaping MiBAP’s work and mission from the very beginning.

The Impact of MiBAP Membership

Wedgwood shares that MiBAP membership has strengthened their organization in multiple ways. The opportunity to connect and collaborate with fellow providers across the state has been invaluable, offering a strong network of colleagues facing similar challenges and opportunities. In addition, Wedgwood’s team has appreciated direct engagement with MDHHS, the Governor’s office, legislators, and key stakeholders whose decisions impact ABA service delivery in Michigan.

Personal and Professional Growth Through MiBAP

For Dr. Candee Lake, Director of the Autism Center for Child Development at Wedgwood Christian Services, MiBAP has also been an important source of professional support. Through her involvement, she has built a network of trusted colleagues, contributed to the development of state legislation, and participated in advocacy efforts that support individuals and families receiving ABA services. Dr. Lake notes that MiBAP’s ongoing updates and guidance help her stay informed and respond effectively to issues affecting the field.

Leadership and Service

Dr. Lake has been an active leader within the association since its inception. She has served on the Board of Directors since 2019 and completed a two-year term as President of MiBAP. Her dedication has helped shape the direction of the organization and advance the goals of ABA providers statewide.

Commitment to Children, Families, and Staff

With more than 20 years of experience in the field, Dr. Lake finds reward in both the clinical and organizational aspects of her work. She is inspired by the progress children make in therapy and the excitement and pride families experience as they watch their children develop new skills. She also values the opportunity to foster a positive, supportive workplace where staff feel connected, encouraged, and part of a strong team.

MiBAP extends our gratitude to Wedgwood Christian Services and Dr. Candee Lake for their leadership, longstanding partnership, and continued commitment to Michigan families.

If you would like your organization to be featured in a future Monthly Minute, please reach out to membership@mibap.org.
